Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications of Russian Federation in cooperation with The Association Of Book Illustrators and Designers at the Moscow Union of Artists is pleased to announce the start of ХIII International Illustration and Book Design Competition "Image of the Book". Artists from all over the world may participate.
For the competition one may submit published and not published book illustrations and books.
Illustrations for the competition are submitted by professional illustrators, publishers, editorial offices of specialized newspapers and magazines and artistic associations.
Works are accepted from 5 June to 31 July 2020.
The award categories are:
- Illustrations for Fiction
Illustrations for literary texts (prose, poetry, drama) of various epochs (folklore, classical and modern). - Illustrations for Works for Children and Youth
- Illustrations for Non-Fiction
Illustrations for scientific and educational non-literary books are considered. - Book Design
The best book design conception (single book or series of books) - Original Picture Book
Completely original author’s book project: idea, text and illustrations. - New Names
Works of young artists aged under 35. - Electronic Book
Original art conceptions of e-books. - Artist’s Book.
Unique arts book projects. - “Phenomenon” (Grand Prix)
An outstanding project.
Illustrations should be submitted as follows:
- in electronic form, works should be in one PDF file.
- An annotation and artist’s biography should be attached to the illustrations.
The winners in each nomination will be awarded with diplomas and memorable prizes during the Moscow International Book Fair in September 2020 and during the Bologna book fair in 2021. The results of the competition will be published in the specialist press and also on the website of the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications and on the website of the Bologna Children's Books Fair
