Bologna Children's Book Fair hosts every other year the winners of the most prestigious children’s book awards in the arts.

After the  Russian artist Igor Oleynikov, winner of the 2018 Hans Christian Andersen Award, the 2020 edition of the Fair will present Sayed Hassan Mousavi (Iran), winner of the BIB – Biennial of Illustration Bratislava Grand Prix 2019.

According to custom, the artist has been commissioned to create the cover for the Illustrators Annual that will accompany the 2020 Illustrators Exhibition and his original works will be presented in the artist’s solo exhibition during the Fair.

Mousavi

Sayed Hassan Mousavi (Iran, 1983), Iranian painter and illustrator, was born in a middle class family in Qom. From childhood, he started working in father’s forging. Small pieces of iron in different shapes were the first characters for his illustrations. Drawing and creating super-humans who would save the world, was his hobby in his childhood. He was supposed to be a blacksmith in future, when he became familiar with graphic design and a new season in his life started. Illustrating was one of the class that he must participated which became the main column in this life. He continued his education in Graphic design in Shahid Beheshti university in Karaj. He inspired by Farshid Mesqali, Keveta Pakovska and Stepan Zavrel. He Illustrated more than 40 children’s’ books for different publishers in the world. His artworks has been displayed in Iran, Germany, Denmark, Japan, Czech republic, Slovak republic, Italy and UAE. His illustrations were selected for the Illustrators Exhibition 2013 of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. In 2018 he received the honor diploma from the Children's Book Council of Iran (IBBY-Iran). Boxer, written and illustrated by him, is mentioned in the White Raven List in 2018, and   he received the Grand Prix BIB - Biennial of Illustration Bratislava for this book in 2019. He was using his words and pictures to familiarize children with peace culture and created dynamic images that carry a deep moral message.
