BOLOGNA PRIZE Best Children's Publisher of the year
In the framework of the 52nd Bologna Children’s Book Fair, BolognaFiere and AIE - Italian Publishers’ Association will organize the 3rd BOP - Bologna Prize for the Best Children’s Publishers of the year.
The prize has been instituted to pay tribute to publishers at the forefront of innovation in their activity for the creative nature of the editorial choices they have made during the previous year’s edition of the fair.
The aim is to highlight the editorial projects, professional skills and intellectual qualities of work produced by publishing houses all over the world. At the same time, the prize is designed to foster reciprocal knowledge and mutual exchange of ideas among different countries, diverse areas and cultural identities across the globe.
The prize-winners will not be chosen by a jury of experts, but by the publishing houses participating in the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, on the basis of a series of nominations made by the international Publishers Associations and cultural institutions representing book publishers worldwide and – other than 2013 and 2014 – also by the publishers themselves.
Six prizes shall be awarded, one for each geographical area: Asia, Africa, Central-South America, Europe, North America, and Oceania.
All exhibitors are invited to nominate 7 publishing houses: 2 in their geographical area and 1 for each of the other areas: nominations must be made by 15th January by completing the relevant form.
Nominations should be reserved for children’s books publishers who has excelled in editorial innovation published in 2014 except for the 2013 and 2014 BOP Prize Winners (Bakame Editions, Kigali, Rwanda; Chronicle Books, San Francisco, USA; Cosac Naify, San Paolo, Brasile; Gecko Press, Wellington, New Zealand; Golden Baobab, Accra, Ghana; Grimm Press, Taipei, Taiwan; La Pastèque, Montreal, Canada; Maurizio Corraini, Mantova, Italia; Petra Ediciones, Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico; PlanetaTangerina, Carcavelos, Portugal; Tara Books, Chennai, India; Walker Books, Sydney, Australia).
After 15th January, the official nominations will be announced and will then be voted by publishers exhibiting at the 2015 Fair themselves, simply following the instructions The Show Office will send in due time.
The winners will be announced in Bologna during a prize-giving ceremony of the Fair on Monday 30th March 2015 at 6.30 pm (Service Centre, ground floor)
